A Quick Trip to The Chilliwack Community Forest in the Snow

// by: Curtis Mchale

Not every trip needs to be some huge affair. In fact, with little ones in tow, it’s often best to find a short day that they enjoy. You can often find these days in the Chilliwack Community Forest. The Community Forest is especially awesome when we have just a bit of snow in Chilliwack, you’ll find a bunch of snow in The Community Forest.

We took one such trip just after Christmas. Manning was originally on the list, but with snow in town it was easy to stay closer to home, then we could enjoy an afternoon cuddled up at home instead of a full day of travel with a few hours of sledding.

We stopped by Canadian Tire for some crazy carpets that the kids could carry and sled as they wanted on a short walk on the Pixtel loop.

While there is no big sledding hill in the Chilliwack Community Forest, snow makes so many parts of the trail awesome. The two older kids loved sledding, and getting towed around in the hard sled. Then jumped in with an adult for giggles and crashes and fun.

Wind up the two hours in the forest with a snowball fight and you have a recipe for a great vacation fun day.

Tired enough at the end of the day that a nap on a rock in the snow is a valid option
