The Ranger is the solo version of the Forager, with scaled down design that makes it perfect for one person. For river trips, it has tons of room for all of your gear and even your dog or a cooler, with maximum comfort and easy paddling for a multi-week adventure. For hunters and fishermen, the Ranger will carry a mid-sized big game animal and has enough space to carry your dog for waterfowl or upland hunting
Want a bit more space and capacity than the Mule, but don’t need the two person size and weight of the Forager? The Ranger is built just for you! We took the design of the Forager and scaled it down to make it more comfortable and easier to paddle for the solo paddler. But it still has plenty of space for all of your gear for a multi-week river trip, including bringing your dog or a small hard cooler. It’s also a great boat for bringing kids up to age 10 before they want to do their own paddling. That makes it our choice for long classic river trips like the San Juan, Dolores, Montana’s Flathead system, and the big Alaska rivers. While the self bailing floor can handle Class III whitewater, we recommend a more maneuverable model like the Gnarwhal for whitwater focused river trips.
The Ranger is also the perfect river based solo hunting and fishing packraft. At under 12lbs, its light enough to be backpacked into a remote river but offers plenty of carrying capacity for medium to large big game like caribou, deer, elk, and sheep or bringing along the dog on an upland or waterfowl hunt. The extra space also makes it great for carrying rods on river fishing trips.
We recommend a Whitewater style paddle such as the Aquabound Shred Carbon or Hybrid 200cm paddle with the Ranger.

**Packed size is a reference measurement based on folding each lengthwise edge of the boat to the center and rolling from the bow. There are many other methods of rolling and folding the boats that will result in a different packed size that may be more or less efficient for packing depending on the situation.
***Max Capacity is the maximum total weight (paddlers and cargo) that the boat can reasonably carry in flatwater under ideal conditions. Actual capacity for any given trip will vary widely based on the paddler’s skill and water conditions. Please review our weight carrying capacity guide for further details.
Self Bailing: The Ranger is available only in a self bailing configuration.
Cargo Fly Zipper: Our Cargo Fly internal storage system comes standard on the Ranger. Extra-large internal dry bags may be purchased separately. The Cargo Fly features an airtight zipper installed in the stern of the boat to allow you to store your gear inside the tubes. The system provides drier and more secure gear storage and improved paddling performance due to a lower center of gravity. Note: The Ranger does not have internal attachments for dry bags. This allows the boat to be packed according to the particular cargo of each trip.
Hull: Proprietary 210-denier, 330-denier or 420-denier nylon, single side laminated with pigmented polyurethane film (Made in USA)
Floor: Proprietary 840-denier ballistics nylon, laminated on both sides with polyurethane film (Made in USA).
Seating: 200-denier oxford nylon and 210-denier high count nylons, with proprietary polyurethane laminate films (Made in USA).
Accessories: All grab loops and similar attachments are manufactured in house in Mancos, Colorado out of scrap floor materials and USA made webbing. Small parts and fasteners are Made in USA, when available, and sourced from industry leaders like Duraflex, YKK, and ITW-Nexus.
