Who is it for?
This is the alpine touring binding for the person who preferences the downhill, probably skis pretty hard and needs durability. Just like the Marker Kingpin the Firtschi Tecton has a DIN release heel like your alpine bindings and upfront pins BUT, wait for it, the pins move laterally - this gives your touring boot room to move around within the tech binding - perfect for variable conditions. This is the only pin binding I would ride within the resort - it's that reliable!
About the Binding
This binding is not one peice machine aluminium like others, however, the plastic is prety darn strong and is reinforced with carbon, its durability is shown at the shop as we barely ever see any of these returned for warranty for things breaking. At 550g, it's sure not the lightest binding but when you have DIN certified heel somethings gotta give. One feature we really appreciate is that you can switch from skin to ski mode without releasing your toe unlike the Atomic Shift bindings - keeps things fast, fluid and avoids you sinking up to your hips in fresh pow at the top of a line.
