Men's Jackets
Tips for choosing a ski jacket:
Resort vs Backcountry
Most backcountry jackets can be used in the resort but resort jackets are not ideal for the backcountry. This is due to the extra insulation, lack of packability and uphill walking features like armpit vents.
Insulated vs Shell
• Shell jackets are suited to the backcountry as they are lighter, more packable and versatile for layering.
• Insulated jackets are suited to someone who wants maximum warmth and will rarely take their jacket off
Gore-Tex vs Non-Gore Tex
• Gore-Tex: Guaranteed to keep you dry in wet conditions for many hours. Also extremely breathable and completely windproof.
• Non-Gore: Many Non-Gore waterproof membranes have excellent water resistance and breathability. The higher the “water column” and breathability rating , the more waterproof and breathable the fabric is. Outerwear with 20,000mm or greater waterproof rating means waterproof under very severe conditions, while products with 5,000mm or less are only water resistant. If you mostly ski in dry conditions, you could certainly choose a jacket that only has some resistance to moisture. In many cases, these jackets are far more breathable, like softshell, making them ideal for ascents while touring.

All ski and snowboard jackets are built with durable fabrics to withstand crashes, falls and scratches with trees
