Backland 102

Built for freeride ski tourers seeking big-mountain adventure, the Atomic Backland 102 is made to explore, climb and descend with commanding confidence. It shares its construction with the wider Backland 109, and the FreeTour Profile gives this touring ski serious downhill power.

A poplar and caruba Ultra Light Woodcore balances low weight with performance, and the lightweight three-dimensional HRZN 3D tip adds surface area for better float in deep snow. Powder Rocker gives pronounced tip and tail rocker with camber underfoot for playful handling in deep powder, crud and chop. It's a reinterpretation of the original Backland construction, built with more wood and less fiberglass, metal and resin to cut material-based CO2-equivalent emissions by 26% compared with the 2022 Backland 100. Developed with Austrian backcountry legend Matthias Haunholder. Sold flat, without bindings.
