Pro Light Shovel

The Pro Light Shovel is an extremely lightweight, compact avalanche shovel for ski tourers who count every gram but still expect a lot from their gear. Carefully placed notches in the blade and a hardened, anodized aluminum build bring the weight down to just 440 g without giving up rigidity, and the 7075 T6 aluminum shaft is both light and very strong.

The telescoping shaft locks in quickly without pressing a button, and the T-grip works for left- and right-handers. The pack-friendly blade has non-slip step grooves for digging with your boot, a sharp cutting edge, and high side walls with a pronounced center ridge for stiffness. The notches also make it suitable for building a rescue sled or using as a snow anchor. It's compatible with the Pro Alu III shaft and fits in all Ortovox packs, and it's UIAA 156 certified.
